Features: Wyken Yard, BR LMR, 1960

Published 25 September 2018, 16:31

Wyken Yard is a compact 'O' gauge shunting layout, set on BR's London Midland Region in the 1960s, owned and operated by Justin and Nigel Adams.

The layout came about having acquired some ‘O’ gauge rolling stock, and wanting somewhere to run it.

The problem faced was the limited space available which meant designing something compact.

It was designed to fit on top of a shelving unit which is why it is operated from the front. It also shows how you can build an interesting micro layout in 7mm scale. The layout depicts a small yard that serves some factories and warehouses and uses a range of recent ‘O’ gauge ready-to-run releases including the Dapol ‘Terrier’ 0-6-0Ts.

Questions about the layout and its operation are welcomed.
