Features: Ladeside Diesel Depot, BR (ScR), 1960s

Published 25 September 2018, 16:37

Ladeside Diesel Depot is one half a large ‘O’ gauge MPD scene which can be operated in conjunction with St Marnock Shed or, as it is this weekend at the Great Electric Train Show, as an independent layout.

It models BR’s Scottish Region in the 1960s with a two road diesel depot being one of two main focal points. The other is a parcels loading bay which creates additional options for shunting around the 10ft x 3ft scenic area. The depot also includes a fuelling point and mess rooms.

The layout is DCC controlled and uses a selection of Heljan kit built diesel locomotives to fill the depot. These include classes 17, 20, 26, 40 and 47, all finished in BR green and equipped with digital sound decoders.

Ladeside Diesel Depot featured in HM65.
