Layout: Billingham, Eastern, 1960s

Published 5 September 2017, 15:54

Middlesbrough Model Railway Club's sensational 40ft x 11ft 'OO' gauge model of Billingham station and its approaches, is a representation of the area during the 1955 to 1963 period.

Almost all the buildings on the layout are scratchbuilt, apart from the Station Hotel and a few garden buildings. Close inspection of the scenic details reveals neatly laid out gardens, pigeon lofts and even hand-formed potato plants!

Train formations are predominantly freight, with a small number of passenger services.

Billingham appeared in HM123.
